• Registered sex offenders would be prohibited from entering or using services at federally funded domestic violence and homeless shelters, except to ask about other shelters.
• Registered sex offenders who break these rules or don't tell shelter staff they are registered would face fines or up to 5 years in prison.
• Shelters that don't follow these rules would lose their federal funding for the next government's budget year.
• Registered sex offenders who enter a federally funded shelter would have to immediately tell staff they are on the National Sex Offender Registry.
