What Would Change

Today, military families, retirees, and veterans may pay varying amounts for their prescription drugs, and their out-of-pocket costs for certain medications are not directly tied to the lower prices negotiated for Medicare beneficiaries. Federal agencies also procure drugs without a direct cap linked to these negotiated prices. If this bill becomes law, military families and veterans would see their out-of-pocket costs for "selected drugs" capped at the same lower rates paid by Medicare beneficiaries, and federal agencies would buy these drugs at prices no higher than those negotiated under the Medicare program.
