Medicare would cover wigs for people with hair loss from certain health conditions.

Medicare would start covering wigs, also called cranial prostheses, for people who lose their hair due to specific health issues like cancer or autoimmune diseases. To get coverage, a doctor would need to certify that the wig is medically necessary. This would provide access to a medical device currently not covered.
