This bill would stop federal agencies from buying foreign seafood for government food programs like school lunches, military meals, and disaster relief. It requires seafood for these programs to be harvested by U.S. vessels or processed in the U.S. Waivers are possible if American supply is too low or doesn't meet quality standards. This aims to boost demand for U.S.-produced seafood.

This bill would create a new program to provide essential supply kits to new mothers and their newborn infants. It sets aside up to $5 million each year from 2026 to 2030 to pay for these kits, prioritizing families with lower incomes and those in areas with high maternal mortality rates or limited maternity care. This means more new parents would get help with crucial items like diapers, wipes, and health information.
