This bill would make it a priority for national and community service programs to recruit and train people who haven't been well-represented in these programs before. This includes young adults and men, who would get more chances to join activities like mentoring, disaster response, and skilled-trades training. If signed into law, these changes would take effect immediately.

This bill would require teaching residency programs to actively seek out and select people who are currently underrepresented in the teaching profession, including men. This means that if you are a man or from another group not often seen in teaching, these programs would give your application special consideration. Currently, these programs only need to set general selection criteria.
