This bill would let the President fast-track approval for oil and gas pipelines important for national security. Federal regulators would get the only say on these projects, overriding state and local rules. This could lead to quicker building, but also less local control and possible waivers of environmental laws.

This bill would make sure people convicted of certain fraud offenses involving $1 million or more go to prison for a set amount of time. If passed, individuals found guilty of large-scale fraud would face mandatory minimum sentences. They would serve at least one year (up to 10 years) for fraud involving $1 million to less than $5 million, and at least five years (up to 20 years) for fraud involving $5 million or more.
