Key Provisions

• Lets qualified current and retired police officers carry firearms in certain federal buildings open to the public.
• Allows qualified current and retired police officers to carry concealed firearms in school zones.
• Ensures state or local gun laws would not stop qualified officers from carrying on public transportation properties or other public places.
• Clarifies that qualified current and retired police officers can carry firearms in National Park System units.
• Gives States the option to extend firearms training qualification for retired officers from one year to up to three years.
• Broadens who can set and certify firearms training for retired officers, including their former agency or a certified instructor.
